Abstract
We report the fabrication of several carbon nanotube patterns by catalytic decomposition of a ferrocene/cyclohexane mixture in the presence of water. It has been found that the weak oxidizer water introduced into the reaction system plays a key role in the formation and growth of these carbon nanotube patterns. The assembly of the carbon nanotubes can be controlled by tuning experimental conditions. This approach may become an alternative method for fabricating carbon nanotube architectures with unique structures and properties that may be of potential uses in many fields.
