Abstract
1. The rate constants of chain propagation and termination in the oxidation of cyclohexane in tertbutanol were measured. 2. The solvation of cyclohexyl peroxide radicals by tert-butanol substantially lowers their reactivity in the oxidation reaction. 3. The contribution of nonspecific solvation (on account of the polarity of the medium) and specific solvation (on account of the formation of hydrogen bonds between the hydrogen atoms of solvent molecules and the unpaired electron of the peroxide radical) to reactions of chain propagation and termination was calculated. 1969 Consultants Bureau.
