Abstract
By means of a least square analysis the difference between the logarithms of the partition coefficients in the octanol/water and cyclohexane/water system can be broken up into additive increments I(H) for structural segments. To a first approximation I(H) may be regarded as a measure for hydrogen bonding ability. By virtue of this parameter, the Log P values of the above systems can be interconverted with good accuracy.
