1. A study was made of the chemical transformations of the mercaptols: 1,1-bis(n-butylthio)cyclohexane (I) and 1,1-bis(n-butylthio)-cyclopentane (V) during either peroxide or photochemical initiation of the process, and also when heated without an initiator. 2. The formation of 1,2-bis(n-butylthio)cyclohexane (III) from (I) and 1,2-bis(n-butylthio)cyclopentane (VI) from (V), which is associated with a 1,2-migration of the thiyl radicals in the intermediate radicals, occurs during peroxide initiation. 3.
