Abstract
The synthesis and properties of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) copolymers with polyhexamethylene-, polyoctamethylene-, and polydecamethylene terephthalates are reported. The copolyester fibres were found to have higher intrinsic viscosity and better moisture regain and dye uptake properties than PET fibres. As the number of methylene groups in the copolymer increased, the tenacity, modulus and birefringence of the fibres decreased.
