Abstract
Curing reactions of phenol‐furfural (PFu) resin with hexamethylene tetramine (Hexa) have been studied by differential scanning calorimetry technique both dynamically as well as isothermally. The curing exotherms obtained have been analyzed to derive the kinetic parameters associated with the curing process. The effect of the concentration of hexa and the temperature on the curing characteristics have been investigated. The optimum concentration of hexa and the optimum temperature for curing are observed to be 12% and 160°C, respectively. Copyright 1987 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
