Abstract
In a previous paper, the synthesis of poly(2-oxazolidones) from aliphatic isocyanates was studied on the model reaction of butyl isocyanate and phenylglycidyl ether under different reaction conditions: temperature, type, and concentration of catalyst and type of solvent. This study showed that bis-2-oxazolidones synthesized from hexamethylene diisocyanate and phenylglycidyl ether as well from butyl isocyanate and diglycidyl ether of biphenol-A exhibited two separate peaks in the IR spectra in the area of absorption of the 2-oxazolidone carbonyl group, which can be attributed to the existence of 4- and 5-isomers in the structure of the bis-2-oxazolidones.
