Abstract
A dynamic model for the batch evaporation of Nylon 66 salt solution is proposed. The evaporator available a industrial scale is composed of catchall and heat exchanger of long vertical tubes. The model is based on the transient macroscopic balances of mass, energy and species during heating and boiling steps, with the constraints pertaining to the vapor - liquid thermodynamic equilibrium. Different heat transfer mechanisms are involved: laminar and turbulent natural convections, nucleate boiling and falling film condensation. This model can predict: temporal developments of temperature and salt mass fraction of liquid, hexamethylene diamine loss and other parameters of practical interest. Several strategies of evaporation are proposed by considering economical, technical and environmental points of view.
