Abstract
The combinatorial hierarchical ordered 2D architectures self-assembled from nanocrystal building blocks was investigated. oleylamine was purchased from Acros. Au Nanocrystals [18, 22]: HAuCl4 and glucose were dissolved in 16 mL of H2O to form solution A, which was then mixed with solution B of oleylamine and ethanol. The mixture was transferred into a teflon-lined stainless steel autoclave at 90°C for 3 hours. The deposited product was collected using cyclohexane. Ethanol was added to wash the nanocrystals twice, which were separated by centrifugation. The bulk concentration of nanocrystals in solution was well controlled. It was observed that the ordered 2D architectures also readily assemble on the silica wafer with tunable feature size.
