Abstract

A method for determination of petroleum products and turpentine present simultaneously in pulp and paper wastewaters with the aid of ANVP-79 instrument is proposed. The method involves selective oxidation of terpenoids, converting them into compounds of higher polarity in carbon tetrachloride, followed by their separation. The proposed method would make it possible to avoid error in determination of a particular class of hydrocarbons, allowing more precise monitoring of wastewaters from paper mills.
