Abstract
Data used to develop the 1980 Petroleum Measurement Tables have been verified by extensive, independent laboratory studies. Results of these laboratory studies show that the 1980 tables accurately represent actual petroleum fluids in commercial markets, and that there is no bias in the data presented in them. The history and development of the Petroleum Measurement Tables of 1980 are reviewed and presented here for the first time in a trade publication. Included in this article is a significant quantity of additional data that were obtained by an independent laboratory and which both verify and extend the data used to develop the 1980 standards. The conclusions and recommendations of Al-Najjar and Al-Abbodi are also evaluated.
