1. 1,1,1,3-Tetrachloropropane and 1,1,1-trichloroethane add to vinyl acetate when the system Fe(CO)5 +(CH3)2NC6H5 is used to initiate the reaction. 2. 1,1,1,3-Tetrachloropropane adds to chloroprene when the reaction is initiated by the system Fe(CO)5+i-C5H11OH to give the 1,4-addition (70%) and 4,1-addition (30%) products. Both adducts exist in the Z and E forms, with a predominance of the Z isomer. © 1973 Consultants Bureau.
