Abstract
HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. Environmental and medical applications for alpha-particle detection by liquid scintillation include: monitoring personnel exposed to alpha-particle activity; investigating plume dispersion and transport; and monitoring biospheres surrounding possible alpha-particle sources. The latter application includes; uranium mines and processing plants; nuclear facilities and reprocessing plants; and fossil-fueled power plants. Liquid scintillation detection allows rapid, reliable low-background, mass sample alpha-particle analysis.
