Clinical case study of chronic poisoning due to metallic uranium in a subject who had handled a uranium bar for 3 years at least: extrapyramidal syndrome with disturbance of balance, nystagmus and peripheral neuropathy, symptoms which correspond to the results of animal experiments on uranium contamination. Chronic uranium poisoning was determined by the significant amount of the metal in the patient's stools, particularly uranium 234. The mechanism of nerve damage is considered, with reference to very rare experimental documentation.
