Abstract
Colorimetric analysis is made of seven samples of type 1 portland cement to determine the concentrations of hexavalent-chromium (7440473) and total chromium in cement washing, water insoluble residues, and original cement powders. Patch tests are made on a patient with an allergic contact type dermatitis due to potassium-dichromate (7778509), indicating that allergic hypersensitivity to hexavalent-chromium as found in aqueous washings of cement powder may be a contributing factor in some cases of cement dermatitis.
