Thin layer chromatographic analysis of nitric-acid esters and nitro compounds on silica-gel-G is described. A mixture of benzene/petroleum ether/methanol in volume ratios of 40:30:5 and 40:50:10 were selected as the eluant system. A mixture of the following substances was separated by thin layer chromatography and their Rf values are discussed in relation to their chemical structures: hexahydro-1,3,5-trinitro-s-triazine (13980046), trinitrophenyl-methyl-nitramine (479458), 1,2-dinitrobenzene (528290), 1,3-dinitrobenzene (99650), 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (97007), 2,4-dinitrotoluene (121142), 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (99354), 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (118967), nitroglycerin (55630), nitroglycol (628966) and nitropenta (78115). The separation of 2,4-dinitrophenol (51285) and 2,6-dinitrophenol (573568) is also discussed. (German).
