HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. A spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of Cr in wastewater with 5-Br-PADAP (2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol). Cr (III) formed a blue-purple complex at pH 4.7 upon heating. The color was stable and highly sensitive for Cr. At 600 nm it obeyed Beer's law in the concentration range 0-15 mug Cr(III)/25 ml. The sensitivity and molar absorptivity of the reaction were 0.00065 mug Cr(III)/cm2 and 7.93e continuous variation and molar ratio methods indicated that Cr formed a 1:2 complex with the ligand.
