Theory of a screen-type diffusion battery
Abstract
Experimental calibration of a screen-type diffusion battery was made by using monodisperse particles of diameter ranging from 0.015 to 1.0 μm. The effect of operational conditions on the calibration was evaluated. The results are in agreement with a previously developed theory based on the filtration theory of a fan model filter. This theory is extended to include effects of diffusion, interception and inertia. The derived working equation is useful in the calibration as well as data analysis. The range of operational conditions for the commercial screen-type diffusion battery is discussed.
