Objective To establish a high performance liquid chromatography method for determination of carbofuran in water. Methods Chromatographic column of Supelcosil C sub(18)(150 mmx4.6 mm, 5 mu m) was used at 35 degree C and mobile phase was methanol+ water=40+60(V:V) at a flow rate of 1.2 ml/min. UV detection wavelength was 210 nm. Results The regression equation was y=193 000 x-5 040 with the correlation coefficient of 0.999 6. The detection limit was 0.3 mu g/L. The average rates of recovery were 86.5%-93.3% and the relative standard deviation was less than 3.0%. Conclusion The method established in the present paper is applicable to determination of carbofuran in water for the precision, accuracy and sensitivity.
