Abstract
Experiences gained in the cogasification of biomass and coal for methanol synthesis are summarized. A review of biomass gasification technology is followed by an analysis of gas and steam cycles integrated with coal gasification. Cogasification integrated with gasification-combined cycle and methanol synthesis systems is also considered. Demonstration installations confirm the technical and economic viability of linking coal and biomass-based methanol production with power generation technology.
