The present study was conducted to evaluate the
antibacterial and antifungal activities of crude methanol extract of stem bark of Garuga pinnata
as well as its dichloromethane and ethyl acetate soluble fractions and seven purified compounds
(1-7). The extractives showed inhibitory activity against some of the tested microorganisms with
zone of inhibition ranging from 8-40 mm. The highest activity was exhibited by garuganin V (3)
against gram-positive Bacillus cereus and B. subtilis and gram-negative Salmonella paratyphi.
