Abstract
PCB Piezotronics has recently introduced the Model 900M13 Accelerometer Calibration System for calibration and acceptance testing of shock accelerometers. Automated data acquisition and signal processing allow rapid and accurate evaluation of accelerometer sensitivity, zero-shift, linearity and survivability. Based on the Hopkinson pressure bar, the system provides referenced shock Levels with peak values ranging from 1000 to over 100,000 g, In this article we review the basics of shock calibration as well as the theory and application of the Hopkinson pressure bar.
