Abstract
IPA COPYRIGHT: ASHP A simple high performance liquid chromatographic assay was developed for acetohexamide (I) and its active plasma metabolite, hydroxyhexamide. The plasma sample was extracted with benzene ethyl acetate at pH 5 and the organic phase was evaporated. The 50% acetonitrile solution of the residue was chromatographed using a Lichrosorb RP-8 reverse phase column and the mobile phase was composed of 0.2% AcOH-acetonitrile (1:1). This assay method may be applicable for the bioavailability and clinical pharmacokinetic studies of I.
