No information was found regarding the effects of exposure to 2-methylnaphthalene. Case reports of exposures to naphthalene have usually involved excessive use of mothballs reported to consist of naphthalene. The most common adverse effects of naphthalene ingestion are haemolytic anaemia and jaundice. Other effects include gastrointestinal symptoms, renal effects, neurological and hepatic effects. Exposure of pregnant women to high levels of naphthalene could lead to foetal toxicity and animal studies suggest that there could be adverse reproductive effects. Glossary.
