HEEP COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. Salmon (Salmo salar), 34-87 cm long, were netted in Gdansk Bay, between Dec. 1980 and March 1981, and analyzed for hexachlorobenzene (HCB), isomers of BHC, DDT analogs and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB). The mean PCB content was 0.44 (0.098-1.3) mg/kg on a wet weight basis, followed by SIGMADDT: 0.058 (0.024-0.12), HCB: 0.039 (0.001-0.0073), gamma-BHC: 0.037 (0.0075-0.12) and alpha-BHC; 0.0092 (0.0044-0.020). The concentration of SIGMADDT and lipid content in fish muscles were independent of the length of the fish. The concentrations of HCB, p,p'-DDE and PCB and PCB ratios correlated to the length of the fish (at 0.01 level).
