Abstract
The combined effects of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and DDT on serum and liver lipids, liver and urinary ascorbic acid, liver microsomal mixed function oxidase system were investigated in male Wistar rats. Serum level of cholesterol, liver and urinary ascorbic acid, liver total lipids, liver microsomal aniline hydroxylase activity, aminopyrine N-demethylase activity, cytochrome c reductase activity, cytochrome P-450, b5 content were significantly increased in rats given either DDT or PCB. The combination of PCB and DDT induced essentially additive effects with respect to above-mentioned changes associated with PCB or DDT-feeding.
