BIOSIS COPYRIGHT: BIOL ABS. The levels of cytochromes P-4501A1 (CYP1A1) and 1A2 (CYP1A2) mRNA and the respective activities of 7-ethoxyresofurin- and 7-methoxyresofurin-O-dealkylases were compared in rat lungs and liver induced by 3-methylcholathrene, benzo(a)pyrene, beta-naphthoflavone, arochlor 1254, and hexachlorobenzene. Increased level of cytochrome P-4501A (CYP1A1) in the lungs and liver corresponded with intensification 7-ethoxyresofurin-O-dealkylase activity which pointed to transcriptional mechanisms of CYP1A1 ind ction of CYP1A1 and CYP1A2 was regulated by different molecular mechanisms.
