HMTC Water, sediment, and fish samples from the Mediterranean Sea were collected and analyzed to assess the amount of pollution from organochlorine insecticides - lindane, chlordane, dichlorodiphenyl trichloroethane (DDT), endrin, and dieldrin - and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). In the water samples, lindane and chlordane levels were lowest while DDT and PCB levels were highest. High concentrations of DDT and PCB were also found in fish and sediment samples. PCB residue levels in fish were higher than DDT levels. Tables and diagrams of sample areas are included. (13 ref.)
