Pesticides and polychlorinated-biphenyls in fish from the River Lahn
Abstract
HMTC Measuring the levels of chlorinated hydrocarbons in territorial fish can be used as a method for locating water contamination sources. Samples from the fish species roach and perch were analyzed for hexachlorobenzene, pentachlorobenzene, alpha-, beta-, and gammahexachlorocyclohexane, dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, and polychlorinated biphenyls. The data from the samples demonstrate that it is possible to determine the amount and location of pollution sources. (11 ref.)
