Abstract
PESTAB. A modified Nielsen-Kryger steam-distillation apparatus is presented that provides exhaustive distillation of pesticides and industrial chemicals from water, sediments, and tissue and the simultaneous extraction of the distillate by a small volume of organic solvent. The extract is generally suitable for direct gas-liquid chromatography and analysis without the time-consuming concentration and clean-up procedures. The results of experiments designed to assess the potential of the unit to provide quantitative estimates of trace chemicals are provided.
